September 21 was the UN International Day of Peace, and Pax Christi Scotland wanted to mark that day by broadening the lens through which we view each other.
Those of you who read Nikki Munro’s article in a recent Pax Christi Scotland newsletter in which she wrote of Education Scotland’s Building Racial Literacy programme will recognise a phrase she used - ‘the narrow white lens’. It was a phrase she said described the way we all too often teach our children, and perhaps it is a lens through which we all too often view the world.
The title of our event on September 21 was ‘The narrow white lens: time for change’.
