Hey'all. I said most of what I wanted to say in the video, however I should go a little further. You can definitely practice without the horn in many ways we should already be but often don't. Listen to recordings of the music you're playing or even just music from the same time period. It really helps get you into the style and you'll pick up more and more as you listen to it with greater attention to detail. You can do what other instruments call "pencil practice" which is hold a pencil and do fingerings along with the recording. For us, you just move your wrist to the right angle for each position. It's a lot less crazy looking than it sounds... you don't have to move your entire arm. Lastly, just keep a good attitude toward it. I couldn't play all week and felt a little pressure near the end when I was still trying to get Purple Haze done, but at the end of the day there's nothing you can do to make it all happen right now... you just have to let go and be patient.
Next week we'll get back to some sweet music, and hopefully this video will help people figuring it out for the first time far beyond that.
See yaaaz,
CBleezy
