The fourth and final musical season of the Netflix-original series “Dear White People” is finally here! Yes, “Dear White People Vol. 4” is an Afro-futuristic and 90s-inspired musical event! Set against the backdrop of senior year at Winchester as well as a not-so-distant, post-pandemic future, the season will follow the students as they reflect on their last year at university and sing a few songs along the way.
We sat down with writer and director Justin Simien and fellow showrunner Jaclyn Moore to discuss all things queer representation and what to expect from the musical finale.
“I kinda can’t believe we did it,” Simien told our own Caitlynn McDaniel. “We’ve been going so hard, and the pace has been so relentless. It is wild to stop and take a look back and say, ‘wow, we did those things.’ We’ve been having crazy ideas for this show since season one. And for better or worse, honey, we did them.”
“Dear White People Vol. 4” is currently available to watch on Netflix.
