About CrossKeys Vineyards:

CrossKeys Vineyards began as a family dream when the Bakhtiar family purchased a forested property to build their home. During a family picnic, a friend suggested they plant vines, sparking the idea that eventually turned into CrossKeys. Two of their wines, Joy Red and Joy White, are named in honor of that friend. The first vines were planted in 2001 and the tasting room was opened in 2008.

The name "CrossKeys" not only pays homage to the historic Cross Keys Tavern nearby but also represents the international symbol of hospitality, prestige and excellence, core values of the winery.

Today, 32 of the property’s 125 acres are under vine, with the family growing 12 varieties and producing 8,000–8,500 cases annually. Sons Saam and Babak lead the operations and marketing, respectively, while their mother handles the bookkeeping, making CrossKeys a true family-run vineyard.

Unique Feature:

The Mediterranean-inspired tasting room and event spaces, perfect for weddings, offer visitors breathtaking views of Massanutten Mountain. In 2018, they added a bistro, giving visitors the chance to pair their wines with delicious, farm-to-table cuisine from an onsite chef. Tours are also offered including one ending with a private tasting. From award-winning crisp whites to bold reds, CrossKeys offers a wide selection of estate-grown wines, with a personal touch evident in every bottle.
