The price of silver skyrocketed to its highest level in almost eight years after the Reddit army that drove up the price of GameStop shares switched their focus to precious metals.
Silver futures jumped more than 10 percent on Monday, after briefly rising to slightly below 30 U.S. dollars an ounce in early trading.
Trending on Twitter -the hastag- 'silversqueeze' caused a flare up in the industry.
Just as the followers WallStreetBets stung Wall Street by defeating hedge funds by short selling out-of-favor companies like GameStop, now silver has become the latest example of the influence wielded by followers of the group who target inequality in the global financial system.
However, experts see little possibility of this market being disrupted, as silver futures have been traded for years and are strong,... unlike GameStop.
