Uniswap’s creator is Ethereum’s developer Hayden Adams, whose inspiration was based on an original blog post of Vitalik Buterin. It is a decentralized trading protocol to facilitate automated trading of decentralized finance tokens, which also removes identity requirements for users, to technically enable anyone to create a liquidity pool for any pair of tokens. UNISWAP was upgraded to V3 in March 2021, to realize increased capital efficiency with a novel AMM that gives liquidity providers more control over the price ranges in which their capital is used. In September 2020, Uniswap went a step further by creating and awarding its own governance token, UNI, to past users of the protocol. UNI tokens enable the holders to vote for governance decisions.
