3 Volumes, 900, 596, 864. Text in English. Illustrated throughout with a profusion of full page steel engravings (mostly views & portraits) as well as 4 engraved maps.
Period full leather bindings, raised bands, gilt compartments and title, floral gilt cover decorations, all edges and turn ins gilt.
Some light scuffing and rubbing to joints and corners, never offensive or severe. Bindings remain clean, tight, and sound, plates with light to at times moderate age foxing, but never offensive. Interior text bright and clean, with minimal age spotting.
Any age flaws are easy to overlook or forgive.
A monumental mid-19th century history set that retains a handsome shelf appearance. Lovely books inside and out!
