Blind Bartimaeus couldn’t see with his eyes, but he had something many people didn’t—faith. When he heard that Yeshua Hamashiach was passing by, he cried out, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” (Mark 10:47). The crowd around him told him to be quiet, but Bartimaeus didn’t stop. He cried out even louder because he knew Jesus was the only one who could change his life.
His faith got Jesus’ attention. The Bible says, “And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called” (Mark 10:49). Imagine that! The Son of God stopped for a blind beggar who refused to give up. When Bartimaeus came to Him, Jesus asked, “What do you want me to do for you?” Bartimaeus boldly said, “Lord, that I might receive my sight.” And with just a word from Jesus, his eyes were opened, and he was healed. From that moment, Bartimaeus followed Jesus, leaving behind the life he once knew.
This story shows us the power of persistence and faith. Bartimaeus didn’t let the crowd silence him, and he didn’t let his situation stop him from calling on Jesus. Sometimes, life will try to keep you quiet, telling you to give up or that God isn’t listening. But Bartimaeus shows us what happens when we cry out to Jesus with bold faith—He hears us, He stops for us, and He changes our lives.
Are you calling out to Jesus like Bartimaeus did? Don’t let anything stop you. Jesus is still passing by today, and He’s ready to meet you where you are. Cry out to Him, and watch what He will do.
