hey guys welcome back to the channel my name is Faraz I am a third year medical student at the University of Cambridge in this video I'm going to talk to you guys a bit about the UCard decision making subtest my experience with it and my tips to maximize your score alright so first of all the UCard DM subtest consists of questions in minutes that is over one minute per question so unlike the other subtests in the UCard time isn't such an issue you have over a minute per question and I would say your main strategy here is to really take your time understanding the stimulus and the question and aiming to answer as many of the questions as you can to full accuracy as opposed to guessing flagging and coming back to it if you have time at the end I'll see with the DM subtests you ideally do not want to guess too many questions the general strategy that I always recommend is approaching it with a first pass and second pass strategy which is essentially where you go through the questions once guessing anything that you think will take you a long time and once you've done that hopefully you will have done most of the questions any questions that you aren't sure on use then at that stage go back over and see if you can get correct so in this way I'd say the decision making section is first of all most similar to bmat section one in the sense that time pressure is not too much of an issue and a lot of it is just really understanding of the question another thing I'd definitely say about decision making in general is that it's somewhere where you can genuinely improve your school a lot and also somewhere where you can be highly accurate and really try and boost your overall youth at school I mean let's say for example you're a bit weaker abstract reason and you just can't seem to get it I see decision making is a section where it's certainly a bit easier to get it and somewhere that's a bit more improvable perhaps I mean I personally struggle a lot with abstract reasoning whereas the decision making I found I improved my score significantly by the day of my ucap with decision making there are six key question types that can come up in terms of how you approach revision I would definitely split up decision making into these six flashing pipes so that you can pinpoint where your week at decision making I remember my preparation instead of just thinking of it as oh I'm bad at decision making I thought of it as oh I'm bad at syllogisms or I'm bad at probabilistic reasoning and I think this makes it a lot easier to actually improve your soul as opposed to just thinking about decision making as this one big subtask or all the questions are just decision making questions because different questions take different amounts of time some questions can be worth up to two marks and different questions also have different levels of difficulty so I definitely think it's really helpful to split up decision making into its core question types and also with the official ucat decision making question Banks they are still up like this all right so now I'm going to tell you guys all about the different question types I just a couple neat tips and tricks I have for each question type so the first question type is Venn diagrams so this can come in a t again I think this is just the case of getting used to the exam but also algebra might help a bit so turning the Venn diagram or no first thing is these questions take a bit more time the second thing is you want to t all B playoff some girls also pay off all boys take more than one sport if there was a statement that sat boys pln girls that's not necessarily true because we don't know increased by finding a true cause and whichever assumption doesn't make sense once you've negated it is probably the correct answnice neat way I'd like to think about assumptions so there you have it that is my Rough Guide to bmat decision making I hope you guys found this video helpful and if you're sitting in the ucart the Bima or applying to Madison this year or just interested in Oxbridge subscribe to my channel because I've got tons more content coming up especially for the bmat I've got full section Wolfies coming out
