UN Secretary General Kofi Annan arrived in Beijing on Tuesday (31/03) to discuss details of last month's agreement he brokered with Baghdad that has allowed UN arms officials access to Iraq's presidential palaces for weapons inspections.
Annan met with Chinese deputy prime minster and former foreign minister Qian Qichen as part of his tour of permanent members of the United Nations Security Council, and both gave a joint press conference after their discussions.

The permanent five and security council are supporting to maintain that unity and encourage Iraq to comply, in the hope that once it has done its duty and fulfilled the resolutions the security council will look at what needs to be done on the sanctions.";
