A special sitting of the Kampala Capital City Authority council this afternoon proposed to designate selected streets and mobile markets at specific times within the city for the evicted street vendors to operate from.
The meeting convened by Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago also called for clear guidelines on the regulation of vendors saying the eviction exercise was illegal.
But as the meeting went on, KCCA Executive Director Jennifer Musisi who did not attend the meeting, assigned an official to take journalists around city markets to show them the vacant spaces that she claimed were available for the evicted vendors.
