Nieuw muziek formatie New Caz at La Spang, Kwaku 2024. I gather that New Caz is a new group led by Denny 'Buba' Lugard.

I am not sure the title of this song/s because the band doesn't have a studio album yet, but I happened to be passing outside La Spang at this moment. I thought I was hearing version of the legendary Surinaamese folk song Bigi Sma (or at least I need to research more).

After Tranga Rugie & The Music Lovers, it seems I have a new fave Suriname band. Surinamese folk music known as Kaseko sounds about as Bantu Kongo (Angola - Congo) as it gets. Kaseko (not to be confused with kasékò music from neighbouring French Guiana), is a Sranan Tongo-nisation of the French phrase 'casser les corps' (shake/break your body in dance). It goes without saying that the French imported and exported this zouk style from Kongo. One of the highlights of Suriname music is the use of what is called a 'skratjie', an amazing combination of a bass drum placed on the side with a cymbal on top of it, played by a different drummer from the main drums!
