Putting my new personal favorite "Snare Top" mic (Beyer Dynamic M201) up against the Gold Standard of drum recording (Shure SM57)
They don't seem extremely different to my ears. I prefer the tone of the M201 and it's rejection of HiHat/Cymbal bleed (listen at the end of each example as I crash while the snare mic is soloed)
The SM57 is a little "boxier" but cuts pretty well in the mix.
