Speaking in Washington, on Thursday (9/3) Assistant Secretary of State Richard Holbrooke testified to Congress following his return from talks with Croatian President Franjo Tudjman on Zagreb's threat to expel 12,000 U.N. peacekeepers by the end of June. "I conveyed to
President Tudjman that the consequences of a U.N. withdrawal from
(the Serb-held Krajina region) could be extraordinarily dangerous
and could trigger the most dangerous situation Europe has seen
since 1945," Holbrooke said.
