This week’s video is packed with action, challenges, and a few surprises! We kick things off with great weather and ideal land conditions as the lime spreading contractor begins working to get the lime spread. I dive into the soil sample results, the importance of lime for fertility, and the quantities needed to keep the farm thriving.
But farming life is never predictable! Heavy rains leave the ground soft and muddy, and when the contractor returns, disaster strikes—the tractor and spreader get badly stuck! A digger contractor is called in to help with the rescue, and the operation becomes a muddy mission to remember.
Next, it’s onto the breeding rams as we change their raddle colors to track fertility and ensure no issues with the flock. It’s a busy and chaotic afternoon wrestling rams, and just when things seem under control, one of them breaks a gate while still attached to the headstock!
The highlight of the week is the debut of Meg, our newest team member and beautiful Sheepdog. She’s already proving to be a real keeper on the farm! We wrap up the day with the kids helping out, while Orlaith puts up the Christmas tree to bring a touch of festive cheer. A quick update on the utility project brings the week to a close, with plenty more to come.
