Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi says the province will be raising funds to cover the e-toll debt. Addressing the media in Johannesburg, Lesufi conceded that this would be a tall order for the province's finance. He says there are still a lot of outstanding issues that must be clarified with both Sanral and the Minister of Finance. Last week, Finance Minister Enoch Godongwana said the provincial government would absorb 30% of Sanral's e-toll debt while the national government would carry the other 70%.
The total debt in question is estimated at R47 billion.
