Renal biopsy: Indications
• Acute kidney injury and chronic kidney disease of uncertain etiology
• Nephrotic syndrome or glomerular proteinuria (protein: creatinine
ratio more than 100 mg/mol) in adults
• Nephrotic syndrome in children that has atypical features or is not responding to treatment
• Nephritic syndrome
• renal transplant dysfunction
• Rarely performed for isolated hematuria or isolated low-grade proteinuria in the absence of impaired renal function or evidence of a multisystem disorder.
