My name is Thabiso "mental apartheid", and my talk is based on my experiences as a young boy growing up in township post-apartheid and attending a school in a Camps Bay suburb, having a comparison of the two worlds. My talk discusses the psychological damage which segregation and racism has shaped the mindset of South Africans, black people today still feeling inferior and incapable to achieve certain things and how that is proved by the slow development in our townships through our social and economic life, white South Africans and all the prejudices that still exists based on ones background.
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self-organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x = independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.* (*Subject to certain rules and regulations)
