FINALLY! My goodness, it has taken all these 15 years and three goes …to complete PART 2 of my two-part iMovie document, ‘A BOOTFUL OF LEGS’. In fact, both parts needed three attempts to get them as good as I could get them.
With it’s ACTUAL title a word play on ‘A Fistful of Dollars’ and “bootleg" …it would have been difficult to find online, if you didn’t already know about it.
SO! -It has a more literal title, describing what it actually IS ~ the ENNIO MORRICONE 75th Birthday Concert, held at the Royal Albert Hall in London on Monday evening, November 10, 2003.

IT WAS WONDERFUL that, on his 75th birthday, the "grande maestro" as Quincy Jones calls Ennio ~ he would be coming to London's Albert Hall, one of the world's premier venues for the performing arts ~ to present a 'Concerto' {{in English, 'Concert'}} of some of his known, well-loved and a tiny few of His lesser-known "pezzi' or pieces.
My brother GORDON said, "Get two of the best seats, and I'll come down." And he brought down from Glasgow his little Panasonic camcorder, an NV-GS5. I did the 'establishing shot', and Gordon shot beautifully ALL of Part 1. I did give Him discreet gestural direction.
HOWEVER ::::Part 2 …was another story!
During the interval, one or more of the emblazored flunkies walkie-talkied-on-down and demanded NO VIDEOING! (What a shame.)
DISCREETLY, Gordon when back in his seat, and just-about to luxuriate in the Vocals …switched the camcorder back On ~ and simply let it 'pick up' what it might.
Part 2 WILL DISAPPOINT MANY, not least me ~ COUGHING! ~{Sorry. Profound apologies.}
NOW, the Quality of this film I made …is not technically 'top-notch' ~ this was the days before HD, let alone 4K, and it's not 16:9.
YouTube was in Twenty-o-Three but a twinkle in its Fathers' eyes! It was recorded on two DV tapes {which, with the pace of technological change, will soon probably become like clay tablets}.
It has been such a long time coming...
Here ~ on the occasion of THE Maestro’s 90th Birthday ~ at last, the completed version appears.
Like any fan of anybody ~ you feel the preciousness of your own video. But this does seem to be a unique document! Even with all the winter coughs [and, alas, mine are closest and in some of the quietist passages]~ even so, apologies aside, many thousands have appreciated greatly Gordon & I’s sharing of our [virtually complete] record of the Special occasion.
Bravo, grande maestro. Bravo!
Ennio Morricone? GENIO Morricone!
{ 'genio' ~ Italian, pronounced jen-yo ...in English ~ 'genius' }
By the way, ALL the iMovies on my channels ' Hugh Hue Carroll ' and ' TheSundayShout ' (on which are records of some of my speeches at Speakers' Corner in London's Hyde Park) ~ all feature little snippets of Music by ENNIO MORRICONE.
We all mourn the passing to Spirit of this Great Master of Music ...on 6th July 2020, aged 91.
