On September 3, 2002, The Rolling Stones begin their Licks Tour, with a presentation in Boston, Massachusetts, United States of America, at the Fleet Center, to commemorate their forty-year artistic career.
This tour became the second highest grossing tour at the time, behind the 1994-1995 Voodoo Lounge Tour.
The production was designed by Mark Fisher, Charlie Watts, Mick Jagger and Patrick Woodroffe. The design included a 200-foot (60-meter) wide digital print created by Jeff Koons. During the song "Honky Tonk Women", an animated video was shown of a topless woman riding the famous Rolling Stones tongue logo before being eaten.
The Rolling Stones once again offer their audience a musical marathon, which begins as many times with Street Fighting Man, followed by If You Can't Rock Me, Only Rock And Roll and Don't Stop.
They continue with Stray Cat Blues, and calm the waters with Wild Horses.
Then they go with Loving Cup, which they haven't performed live since 1972, and Tumbling Dice, both from the Exile On Main Street album.
Mick takes a break and hands over the baton to Keith Richards who plays Slipping Away and Happy.
Now Mick delights the public with the debut of a version of the O'jays, Soul Train.
It is the turn of a song rarely performed by the Rolling Stones in their live performances, Undercover of The Night, from the Undercover album.
He now blasts the riff from Can You Hear Me Knocking, followed by Honky Tonk Women and I Can't Get No Satisfaction, but he hasn't finished the concert. The Rolling move to stage B, in the middle of the audience, and pay tribute to their roots with Mannish Boys by Muddy Waters, an impeccable interpretation of Neighbors,
and return to the main stage to perform Sympathy For The Devil and end with Jumping Jack Flash
At that point in the history of the Rolling Stones, the tour could be the last, but twenty-one years have passed since then and The Rolling Stones continue to make living Rock and Roll history, and in three days they will release their new album Hackney Diamonds
