Hossein Rahnama, Computer Science '03, Electrical and Computer Engineering '06 (Masters of Applied Science), '10 (Doctorate), Associate Director, Digital Media Zone, Ryerson University
Hossein Rahnama is the associate director of Ryerson University's Digital Media Zone, where he leads its market-driven research arm, facilitating and encouraging industry partnerships with DMZ companies and teams. He also leads the DMZ research team Flybits, where undergraduate and graduate students work together to break new ground in mobile and pervasive computing, with specific interests in the transit, transport and security industries. In 2010, the Flybits team launched the Mobile Transit Companion for the Paris Metro Authority, a mobile application that provides passengers in transit with live, customized data. Hossein is the research director of the Ubiquitous Computing Group at Ryerson, and an instructor in the university's Department of Computer Science. He has more than 15 publications and patents on ubiquitous and pervasive computing to his name.
