Here is an example of simulating the stability of a slope subjected to Rainfall using the Plaxis 2D software, which is based on FEM.
Rainfall intensity = 5 mm/hour
Duration of Rainfall = 30 hours
FS of Slope not subjected to Rainfall= 2.38
FS of Slope subjected to Rainfall = 1.84
