Sama Vritti Pranayama is a breathing technique that involves equal and rhythmic breathing. This technique is also known as Equal breathing because of the equal count of inhales, exhales, and holding of the breath. It is a simple yet powerful technique.
To perform the Sama Vritti Pranayama (Equal breath count):
1. Put one hand on your chest and the other on your stomach.
2. Take a deep breath through your nose for 5 seconds.
3. Make sure the hand on your chest remains as still as possible.
4. Feel the air moving into your abdomen region so that your stomach moves out against your hands.
5. Exhale slowly through your nose for 5 seconds.
6. Try to actively contract your stomach muscle as you exhale.
7. Make sure your hand on your chest remains as still as possible during the entire exercise.
8. Continue breathing this way for several minutes.
