On September 7, 2023, the Alliance for Peacebuilding (AfP) held the formal launch of the Congressionally-required annual report on U.S. Government efforts to implement the Elie Wiesel Genocide and Atrocities Prevention Act, released in August. The report includes information about the U.S. Strategy to Anticipate, Prevent, and Respond to Atrocities, the new Atrocity Risk Assessment Framework, the Presidential Memo on Conflict-Related Sexual Violence, and new prevention programming by the Atrocity Prevention Task Force (APTF). This roundtable discussion featured a conversation with senior-level members of the APTF on key achievements and challenges faced in the past year in preventing and addressing atrocities, as well as opportunities for the future of atrocity prevention within the U.S. Government.
