Throughout the resettlement and integration journey, many children make their way across borders seeking safety. Many flee persecution, violence, or abuse, and enter the United States without a parent or custodian.
Joined by Bernal Cruz-Munoz, these HIAS training sessions offer immigration definitions related to unaccompanied children (UC) and available resources through child welfare and other systems, as well as describe experiences UC encounter while under the Office of Refugee Resettlement’s care, and during Post-Release Services. The capacity training series aims to nurture culturally responsive and trauma-informed support for children and families experiencing forced displacement.
Designed to support affiliate case workers across HIAS’ network and some of our partners at Endeavors who are active in post-release services, the sessions are rooted in a social justice and focused on skill development.
