Dali’s Epicon series is one of the brand’s top-of-the-line offerings designed to deliver detailed sound with stunning visual appeal. To achieve this, Dali has integrated a host of proprietary technologies borrowed from their other premium and flagship series. First, let’s glance at some of these core technologies and common features of the Epicon 6 & 8 floorstanders.
Dali starts by integrating their patented Soft Magnetic Composite (SMC) technology in the the heart of the magnet motor system of the drivers to minimise coloration and distortion. The latest generation of wood fibre based woofers are developed and manufactured at the brand’s production facilities in Denmark. This is followed by Dali’s hybrid tweeter module that features a soft dome and a planar ribbon tweeter combined to deliver clarity and ultra-wide dispersion.
The hand polished deep gloss cabinet itself is crafted from 6 layers of MDF to form a rigid construction that reduces cabinet resonances, while the rounded form practically eliminates standing waves. Additionally separate chambers inside the cabinet also allow each woofer to be individually tuned to perfection, and bass ports located directly behind the bass and midrange drivers minimise turbulence. For input connectivity, both the floorstander sport bolg-plated binding posts with Bi-wire and Bi-Amp support.
Now let’s look at the models individually.
The Dali Epicon 8 is the largest model in the series. It sports a unique 3 + ½-way crossover design. Starting from the top, the Epicon 8 features a 6.5” mid-range driver, followed by a hybrid tweeter system and dual 8” woofer drivers. Thanks to bigger 8” drivers the Epicon 8 is ideal for large spaces.
Next up is the Dali Epicon 6. This model too has a unique 2½ + ½-way crossover design. The speaker features a hybrid tweeter system and dual 6.5” mid-bass drivers. Sporting 6.5” drivers, the Epicon 6 is a great option for mid-sized and smaller spaces.
All-in-all, the Epicon 6 & 8 floorstanders are designed to deliver DALI’s superior listening experience while oozing a high-end visual appeal in your home.
