House Speaker Mike Johnson spoke at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Tuesday, a day that leading Republicans and other featured attendees were focused on the themes of safety and immigration.
Johnson told the audience that the Republican Party is the "law and order team."
"We always have been and we always will be the advocates for the rule of law. And we all know that principle, as well as many others, is in serious jeopardy today," Johnson said. "We can't survive the dramatic increases in violence, crime, and drugs that the Democrats' policies have brought upon our communities."
During the convention, delegates will adopt a party platform and former President Donald Trump will formally accept the Republican nomination for president. On Monday, Trump named Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio as his running mate.
