At Musikmesse 2016 iSing's Sheena Ladwa talks with Edward Forth from Audio Technica about their new ATH E40, E50 & E70 IEM headphone series.
Edward: We have a new a new range of in-ear monitors from an entry level to the full professional level . They are for monitoring on stage & for the studio & a universal one that does a lot.
Sheena: why is in any monitoring so important for singers?
Edward: It is really important especially for stage to be able to hear yourself is really key when you're on stage and when you're in venues you're relying on the wedges in front of you & the quality of the speakers can can change as well as the sound engineer can change & there's nothing worse than not being able to hear yourself clearly. With in-ear monitors you can choose exactly what you want to hear in your voice, the levels on stage can be a can be higher young musicians without affecting you. You're going to get far less feedback issues because . And you don't have don't have the chance of getting feedback from the microphone and wedge speaker.
Sheena: What is the purpose of the E70 IEM?
Edward: In the studio if you want to really mix without the clumpiness of headphones.
Sheena: You've got three three products. Can you talk to us more about them individually?
Edward: The E40s have a dynamic driver which means they're nice and loud we've got a nice and wide frequency response so you can hear pretty much everything. And you can use for both stage & studio. If you want to mix recordings while you're on the train these are the perfect for it.
The E50 which are based on our already popular M58 headphones these ones have a single a single balanced armature that means they are a lot more precise but their also absolutely bomb-proof. these are perfect for mixing and listening in recording.
We also have a top model which are the E70s which have a triple balance driver which means they've got a wide frequency response and again they are bomb proof and they also have a molded piece that fit around your ear.
Custom fitting is expensive for most people so with these you get three different sizes of ear tip which are interchangable.
We also have a memory foam which is squeezed in there and it molds the shape of your ear for great isolations.
Sheena: What makes your products stand out?
Edward: Ours have been specifically designed to have the same sonic signature as our popular studio monitoring headphones. If you are used to using the M50 in the studio or live you can swap to the E50s and it will sound the same. They are also affordable to singers.
Sheena: How would a singer go about getting an endorsement?
Edward: On our website we have a marketing contact or artist relations contact and contact us and provide us with as much information as you can: your website, videos, your shows, social media. And if if we think your work with the brand we will go ahead.
Sheena: Can you give us an idea of some of the celebrities of singers that are audio technica products?
Edward: I know our biggest is in Europe is Rudimental and they are using pretty much all all audio-technica including all of their wireless mics from our artists elite series. We have James Bay using our A3300 which is an onstage condenser which has the sound of a studio microphone but on a stage which is why you get that crystal clear.
Sheena: Most importantly how does someone go about buying it and what are the price points? They are available now in reputable sellers and priorities sellers.
The price points are:
E40 - 70 pounds
E50 - 147 pounds
E70 - 280 pounds
