Soldiers on their first tour of Afghanistan with 1st Battalion Scots Guards have been settling into their new life in Forward Operating Base Ouellette in the upper Gereshk Valley.

For around 50 per cent of troops from the battalion it is their first tour, their first experience of Afghanistan and their first taste of fob life. With new food, new duties and new ways to do things, it's a lot to take on.

With regular patrols, both in and out of vehicles and side by side with the ANSF, the Scots Guards have a challenge ahead of them.
