The verdict made no sense.
The jury didn't follow the judge's instructions.
They were told to answer the questions in order.

Do not jump around.
Do not start at the end.
Start with the first question and go in order.

They started doing that, but then something happened along the way. They answered the first question.

"Was Dr. Jones negligent?"
The jury said "YES."
If no, stop and go no further.

If yes, go on to question #2.

Question #2: Was Dr. Jones' negligence a proximate cause of the patient's injuries?

If yes, continue on to question #3.
If no, stop and go no further. Report back to the court.

The jury decided that "NO" the doctor's negligence was NOT a cause of the patient's injuries. That meant they were NOT to answer the next series of questions that focuses on damages.

Yet, that's exactly what they did.
They continued on and answered how much money you were to receive.

The jury gave you $2 million dollars for your past pain and suffering.
The jury gave you $2 million dollars for your future pain and suffering. The jury also gave you $1 million dollars for your lost wages.

How could they have done that if the judge specifically told them NOT to proceed forward if there was no link between the doctor's wrongdoing and your injury?
