Austin cars designed and/or built prior to WW2 make up the 85 photos in this compilation. All manner of pre-war Austins will be found here, from well-known vintage and classic cars such as the Austin 7, 10, 12 and 16, through to lesser-often-spotted gems such as the company's range of car-based vans and light trucks that were built in the 1920s and 1930s at the Longbridge factory.
A few of the cars shown are of post-war, late 1940s, manufacture but pre-war design, a time when the factory returned to civilian vehicle production after years of military vehicle output.
Highlights include examples of the Swallow-bodied Austin 7 (saloon and convertible), various Austins seen at an Austin 10 Drivers' Club rally some years ago, several specials including the one built by John Haynes (of the Haynes publishing empire and motor museum), and the 12/4 low-loader taxi that was such a common sight in London through the 1930s and well into the post-war years. The photos were taken at a variety of classic car shows and museums etc over the last 15+ years.
If you're a fan of these early British cars please say hello in the comments, likewise if you own one or have done, or can add more information about the cars shown here, feel free to post up your thoughts.
Austins feature across the Old Classic Car channel so please take a look around when you're finished here. Likes and subs welcomed as always.
