'Slow Climb' is a song about marriage — about encountering new levels of vulnerability and hardship in a relationship, and choosing to push through it. The song was inspired by events of the past few years falling ill with a really scary and debilitating illness, and dealing with the effects of that on our life and relationship. Essentially, the song is a declaration of hope and a "middle fingers up" to the naysayers who would have us believe that the project of life-long love is a doomed enterprise.
