Mohan Sharma, a workaholic, gets married to the love of his life Aruna. However, Mohan's happiness is short-lived as Aruna dies after giving birth to a daughter, Uma. Mohan blames Uma for Aruna's death. He attends to her after getting drunk but despises her otherwise. He arranges for Uma's marriage but she falls in love with a young idealistic person.
