Parambikulam Tiger reserve is a gorgeous jungle that is surrounded by the mighty mountains of the Western Ghats and is made up of many natural water reservoirs. It's diverse habitat ranging from hilly terrain, wooded forests, bamboo thickets to reservoirs is home to a wide range of flora and fauna.
Even though the tiger reserve is in Kerala, its access is via Tamil nadu and that is what makes it even more special. It is connected with the Anaimalai tiger reserve of Tamil Nadu and is extremely popular for its elephants, Indian Gaurs, tigers, leopards, hornbills and many other species.
In this video, you can see local tribal women perform a traditional dance. The Kerala forest department organizes such interactions with the locals as part of the forest safari. This provides some source of livelihood for the local tribals who work as drivers, forest guides, staff, surveyors, boatmen, etc.
