A big thanks to @LucaColaMusic who helped make this cover possible. And to Dom for playing the Rickenbacker 325 on this! Check out Dom's awesome channel @DRguitar918
The Beatles recorded this song for the album With The Beatles, on July 30th 1963. They recorded seven takes, then overdubbed lead vocals and handclaps
On the backing track George used his Gretsch Country Gentleman and John played his Rickenbacker 325. They were both plugged into Vox AC-30's. No guitar overdubs were recorded
John's rhythm guitar is very prominent throughout the song, and George's playing isn't very audible. Because George was singing backing vocals live, he played pretty quietly except for the chromatic single-lead lines during each break. I studied the isolated tracks, but a lot of my clues came from the Live at the BBC recordings and this outtake-

These other recordings confirmed to me that George plays softly throughout the song, and during each vocal break he does the chromatic lines on the low E and A strings
I'm using @MichaelSokil 2016 Gretsch Country Gentleman into my Vox AC-30C2X. Dom is using a luthier made replica of a Rickenbacker 325C58
INTERESTING NOTES:
0:01 Isolated tracks revealed that both John and George play an opening chord-hit, but different ones. John seemed to think the first 'Wait' was a C-sharp minor chord, while George plays an A6
0:03 John backs out for the rest of the intro, while George chugs an A5 chord, then walks up the low E string to an F-sharp minor 5
0:08 George does his first chromatic walkdown on the low A string. I determined John does not also do this walkdown because in the isolated track, his rhythm guitar enters strongly on the verse- on an A chord
0:12 George plays A then G-sharp then A again, before the F-sharp minor chord
0:28 George plays A then slides down from G-sharp
1:44 John plays A6 X02222
1:46 George does the A string walkdown instead of low E string
2:28 Georges plays a Chuck Berry-esque A blues riff on the 7th fret of G and B strings
