Air India has signed a deal with the world's top two aircraft manufacturers,
Boeing and Airbus. The largest agreement ever signed by an airline carrier in history is this one. But what benefits does this agreement offer the average Indian Flyer? Will it result in lower airfares? In an interview with BTTV's Managing Director Siddharth Zarabi, Jitendra Bhargava, a former Executive Director of Air India, says that expansion plans like these could shorten travel times (domestic or international) due to the availability of more direct flights. Jitendra Bhargava also adds that there are a number of domestic and geopolitical issues that go towards fare breakdown. He claims that in addition to the high ATF costs, factors like the conflict in Ukraine, the dominance of the Dollar in the international market, airport fees, state sales taxes, and numerous others are taken into account before determining a ticket price.
