I think this is the first time we've REALLY talked about fuzz on this channel. I actually really like fuzz, even if I am not much of an expert in the field. But the Benson Fuzz is here to change all that. It’s a proper germanium fuzz with all the character and tone of your favorite old school fuzz, with none of the downsides. Fuzz hates buffers? You’ve got a pickup simulator and impedance control so you can put it anywhere in your chain. If you’re anything like me, fuzz is almost never going to be first in your signal chain and this really helps to meet that need. Secondly, Benson has added an internal temperature biasing to keep the transistors operating at the ideal temp for this kind of fuzz. So let’s put claims about this fuzz being versatile to the test; let’s throw it in between the Meris Enzo and the Empress ZOIA and see how weird and ambient we can get with one of the best fuzzes in my collection.
