This Flexvolt battery has a problem it is charging but not powering tools either Flexvolt or XR. I through a series of fortunate events a faulty 54v 9ah battery came in to my possession. The fault was mind boggling at first. I put the battery on to charge and to my amazement it was charging perfectly then I took it off charge and tested the voltage. The voltage test revealed astonishing results there was no voltage coming out of the battery. I thought there was something wrong with the meter but when I checked it was OK. There was indeed no voltage whatsoever coming out of the battery. I tried it on a tool and at this stage there was no surprise it was not powering the tool or lighting the led. I took the step of removing the sides with the first side of it was apparent there had been a heat surge one of the connections was slightly discoloured but still intact. The other side however was a different matter three connections were completely burned through so I promptly resoldered some nickel strip across each one and the fix was perfectly completed. The Dewalt Battery range includes XR 18v or 20v flexvolt 54v or 60v and powerstack 18v or 20v. The Flexvolt battery shown is a 9ah which is powered by 21700 30T cells. battery repair is a risky undertaking and careful consideration should be taken before attempting it.
