Here is an update on my orchid mounted on the ceramic cylinder. I decided to do this update since temperatures have decreased a lot and we are starting to get some issues!
There seems to be a mold outbreak on the cylinder, due to the fact that the cylinder stays way too moist, there is less ventilation and temperatures are lower than summer time. Humidity increased as well compared to my summer time.
The change in care requires not filling the cylinder with water anymore, but treat this plant as a normal mounted orchid. This will hopefully solve the mold formation. To eliminate the current mold I simply sprayed the surfaces with hydrogen peroxide 3% and the problem is pretty much gone.
