A few months back now I got my very first look at a flat screen Sony OLED PVM-1741 monitor in real life! This monitor is amazing and I got my hands on it for a night so I could get some footage and give you this quick overview of the screen.
Is this a good retro gaming screen? After Steve and I tested a 2006 Sony LCD PVM (one of the first flat pro screens made) we found it's really bad for gaming as it has 3 to 4 frames of lag. Also it only accepts 480i (it does take RGBs via BNC at least)
This OLED model is 5 years more advanced (2011) and accepts 1080p over HDMI, lets see how it holds up for your retro gaming needs

If you are into these fun and easy projects you might like a podcast I do with my friend Steve Nutter from Retro Tech USA. It's called the Cathode Ray Podcast and we talk ALOT about old TV's. Steve is one of the most respected CRT techs on YouTube and it's a lot of fun to have these nerdy conversations.
