Labour MP Angela Eagle accused former prime minister Boris Johnson of spreading "Trump-like conspiracy theories" during the debate on whether or not to approve the privileges committee report into partygate.

"The committee has concluded that the most senior member of the government a sitting prime minister, has engaged in very serious contempt and wrongdoing," Eagle said.

"He leaves the House in disgrace, spewing Trump like conspiracy theories and attacking the integrity of the parliamentary system which he has done so much to bring into disrepute."
