PSD2, or Payment Service Directive 2, is the piece of European Regulation legislation that is coming in that will enforce the way security is applied to payments, or how fraud is applied to payment, to be totally transformed. The aim is from a consumer point of view to make the transaction process much more secure to prevent fraud. The side effect of that, certainly in the short term, will be that it will probably get a bit more complicated to complete transactions online because they will need to go through stronger authentication than they used to previously. Nick Mothershaw, Experian’s Director of Identity and Fraud, explains the intricacies of the PSD2 to help you understand what it means to Payment Service Providers (PSPs), and organisations who manage transactions, in our new short video.
