The all new 5th-generation Jeep Grand Cherokee has touched down in South Africa, but for the first time is offered with 7 seats. We took the Jeep for a little 4x4 test at the All Terrain 4x4 test facility to see if it is as capable offroad as it is comfortable on the long open road.
We had the Overland spec, which is the midspec model. This 7 seater Jeep is a great large family vehicle with lots of comfort and tech to enjoy. The Jeep does feel like it lacks some power under the bonnet, providing 211kW and 344 Nm of Torque coming from a 3.6l V6 engine. The air suspension helps with the ride high and comfort and there are various terrain type modes to choose from.
The Jeep proved to be a very luxurious family SUV which will happily take the entire family on a road trip and to explore the country. It is also capable enough to get you over some tricky wash-outs or obstacles in the worst case scenarios.
