The Soil & Plant Science Division has set a goal of mapping all soils and ecological sites across the US and making that information available on Web Soil Survey and EDIT. Regional Directors Jessica Lené and Dave Kingsbury presented on how the Division will achieve this goal by 2026 in Alaska and the Continental US respectively through a mix of strategies including tried and true field mapping, conversion of partner-provided data, and conversion of currently available low-resolution mapping. Federal partners have a stake in this effort and the SPSD Federal Liaisons are the points-of-contact to request projects where management needs dictate higher resolution mapping.
