Uckfield Parkrun - A Scenic Trail Adventure and beaten by Diego!
Welcome to another #parkrun adventure! Today, we're in the beautiful town of Uckfield in East Sussex, ready to tackle a picturesque and challenging trail course. This run is all about enjoying the scenery rather than chasing personal bests, especially with the sun shining brightly on us.
Getting Started
It's a relaxed start here at #Uckfieldparkrun. Despite it being a few minutes past nine, we're just leisurely making our way to the starting line. The race briefing is still pending, but by eight minutes past nine, we're off!
The Course
The course starts with a lap around the field before heading into the stunning deer park. As we set off, the first kilometer clocks in at 4:23. The trail is muddy with some standing water, making it a bit of a challenge. The second kilometer comes in at 4:39, just as we start to ascend the hill.
The Climb
As we climb, we pass Buxted House Hotel, a picturesque spot where I've photographed several weddings. The park is absolutely gorgeous, even if it isn't ideal for fast running. The third kilometer is slower at 5:10 due to the uphill stretch, but the views more than make up for it.
The Return
With two kilometers to go, we loop back and join the other runners. Kilometer four is faster at 4:14, despite the muddy conditions. In the final stretch, I'm chasing down 11 year old Diego ahead of me, but he proves too strong. The last couple of hundred meters are tough, but the support from fellow runners keeps me going.
The Finish
Crossing the finish line, I'm greeted with cheers and congratulations. Today's run was my 242nd parkrun, and my time was 23:11 with an average heart rate of 143. While not a fast course, the enjoyment of the scenery and camaraderie made it worthwhile.
Post-Run
If you're ever in East Sussex, I highly recommend the Uckfield parkrun. The run starts and finishes at the rugby club, and there's even a little tea bar for post-run refreshments. Though today, I'll be heading to Costa for a well-deserved drink. I check with Diego's dad and we have his permission to feature Diego in the video.
Upcoming Runs
Stay tuned for more parkruns as I count down to my 250th milestone! Next week, I'll be participating in the Race to the Stones, so there won't be a parkrun video. But we'll be back the following week with more adventures.
If you enjoyed this run, don't forget to subscribe to the channel and check out the playlist for all the parkruns I've filmed. See you on the start line next time! #parkruntourism
