In the last few decades many solutions have emerged to manage our waste particularly the biodegradable waste. Decentralized solutions are noteworthy in terms of lowering carbon footprint given that waste does not be transported long distances. However, decentralized solutions are not able to take advantage of the economies of scale . In many countries where the idea of 'service fee' for waste management is still evolving, there is an urgent need for alternate financing models. Carbon financing is emerging as a good fit as decentralised solutions bring in significant carbon savings. Sandeep R Choudhury, Co-Founder VNV Advisory talks about Carbon Financing.
