After walking around for a few hours in the morning, jumped on a tram in Hakaniemi heading to Helsinki Central Station to catch the train to the airport.
Once at the airport, spent some time in the Finnair Platinum Wing Lounge, where a few drinks, and a tasty Reindeer Burger was enjoyed.
Boarding the @finnair A350-900 to Tokyo (Haneda) was done at a remote stand, which gave an amazing view of the aircraft and its massive engines.
Take off was quick, and before long dinner was served.
Not long after, the cabin lights were dimmed, and most settled in to get some sleep on the long 13hr+ flight.
However, a few of us kept an eye out the windows for something special.
The sky was dark above the arctic, but soon it was lit up with vibrant green and red northern lights. With the naked eye, you could only vaguely see misty like formations, but doing the best I could with an iPhone, managed to get some photos, far batter than I expected.
Some people travel a long way to Norway, Iceland, Sweden & Finland to see the Northern Lights, and leave without seeing them due to cloud cover, low electrical atmospheric activity, etc etc, and we got to see it from 42,000ft.
"WOW!!!"
After a few hours of hoping for something else, it was time to get some sleep, before waking up for Breakfast than landing in Tokyo (Haneda)
All filmed on the Apple iPhone 14 Pro Max
