In this beginner sewing tutorial, Wendy will show you how to make an Envelope Throw Pillow Cover that you can sew in about 15 minutes. This sewing tutorial is fast and easy. Make a couple of throw pillows in less than an hour. Make some for gifts for friends and family. Since this is an envelope pillow cover you can change them out seasonally. Fabric choices are unlimited. In this sewing tutorial we are using the new Tula Pink collection "Zuma".

This is a fun and affordable DIY project. Here is a simple pattern formula to use any size pillow form you would like.

Front panel will always be 1" larger than pillow form.
Back panel(s) will typically overlap by 3"- 4".
Always sew using 1/2" seam allowance. Reinforce with Zig Zag stitches.

16x16 (Pillow form)
Front- 17"x17"
Back (2) 17" x 12.5" or (1) 17"x25", then cut in half.

18x18 Pillow form
Front- 19"x19"
Back (2) 19" x 13" or (1) 19"x26", then cut in half.

20x20 Pillow form
Front- 21"x21""
Back (2) 21" x 14" or (1) 21"x28", then cut in half.

As sizes get larger, your overlap will increase from 3-4" to 4-6" and upwards incrementally.

24x24 Pillow form
Front- 25"x25"
Back (2) 25" x 18.5" or (1) 25"x37", then cut in half.
