Lancaut was honestly such a beautiful site - I know I keep saying this, but you have to remember that I live in a city. This type of wild beauty is something I have less experience with than castles and chapels in towns. The hike alone almost killed me. But the feelings of being there, after the long journey to that site, made me wonder if that was how medieval pilgrims felt when they finally reached their destination: just overwhelmed with the relief of having arrived.
(No, I didn’t settle on a way to pronounce Lancaut; no, I don’t want to discuss it)
