A band of volunteer firefighters in Hamilton County are being praised after saving a life — a cat's, to be more specific.
The Jackson Township Fire Department received a call from a family after they exhausted their attempts of trying to get the cat, named Ralph, down from a tree Sunday, Oct. 20. The family cat found himself stuck nearly 40 feet up in the air.
The family made it a point to inform dispatch this was "in fact, not a prank."
Ralph's family and neighbor believe a dog may have chased the cat up the tree.
After some coaxing, fire crews said Ralph came down to 30 feet. He wanted to come all the way down, but he couldn't find the courage to do it himself.
That's when fire crews got a ladder from the engine, and one of the firefighters made his way up to save Ralph.
After returning to the ground, Ralph ran back home and was reunited with his family.
